Robotic Surgery

The next generation of surgery is here. Robotic-assisted surgery is the latest technological advancement that provides all the benefits of traditional open surgery with the features of minimally invasive surgery. Using the da Vinci® Surgical System, our surgeons are able to perform many cardiothoracic procedures with greater precision, enhanced visualization and improved access.
The da Vinci® System was designed to expand a surgeon’s capabilities in the operating room while offering a less invasive option to the patient. With da Vinci®, only small incisions are necessary to introduce tiny instruments and a lighted camera that magnifies the image on a high-resolution monitor. The four-arm technique allows the robot to scale, filter and seamlessly translate the surgeon’s hand commands into micro-precise robotic movements. The surgeon maintains complete control at all times, with da Vinci® responding to his input with unequivocal accuracy.
The da Vinci® Surgical System has revolutionized cardiothoracic surgery, and the benefits to the patient are numerous. In addition to having a smaller incision and less noticeable scar, typical advantages to the patient include:
- less blood loss and need for blood transfusions
- reduced risk of infection
- less pain
- shorter hospital stay
- easier recovery and a quicker return to normal activities
Dr. Dale Geiss is a leading surgeon in the United States in the use of the da Vinci® Surgical System, and is committed to providing his patients with the latest in innovative technology and unparalleled patient care.
