Born and raised in Rushville, Illinois, Kent says he became a physician because he always wanted to help people. He became fascinated with cardiology because he "enjoyed the mental challenge of diagnosis and treatment... and the satisfaction of helping others."
Kent received his M.D. from the University of Illinois-Chicago in 1973. He then completed an internship and internal medicine residency at the University Of Illinois Hospitals, serving as chief resident of internal medicine from 1976-1977. Dr. Wise completed a cardiology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center.
In 1980, Dr. Wise joined HeartCare Midwest. Over the years, he has been active in the teaching of medical students and residents and currently serves as a clinical assistant professor at the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine at Peoria. He is also a member of the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Wise and his wife Joyce (a pediatric endocrinologist) have two daughters, Allison and Emma. In his free time, Kent likes to golf and hunt.
